Do the boats come with fuel?

Yes the boats are hired full of fuel and must be returned with a full tank. Where boats are returned without refuelling, a charge of $2.50 per litre will be applied to the credit card of the hirer

 

Do I need a boat licence to hire a boat?

Yes any current Australian boat licence will be accepted, it will need to be provided at the time of hiring, along with a driver's licence and

credit card

 

Are the boats on trailers?

Yes, the boats are hired on trailers and you will need a vehicle that is fitted with a towbar and 50 mm towball. We have a range of trailer light fittings and adaptors

 

Do you have half day hire rates?

No, only full day rates apply, regardless of pick up or return time

 

What are the hours of hire and operation?

7 am to 7 pm constitutes a full day hire. Hours of boat operation are restricted between sunrise and sunset. Please note that pick up time on a Monday or Tuesday must be at 7 am, other days can be later in the morning

 

What will happen if the weather turns bad when I have booked the boat?

Your deposit will be refunded in full if the weather is dangerous and we refuse to hire the boat. However a sea breeze or some rain does not necessarily constitute bad or dangerous weather. If you choose not to take the boat your booking can be transferred to another date if availability permits

 

What does the security bond cover?

It provides us a level of security in the event of minor damage resulting from reckless operation of the boat. All boats are covered by insurance ($500 excess), however the user is responsible for the excess in the event of damage or loss

 

What discounts are available to extended hires?

Discounts are available for hires beyond one day. A further 10% discount is available to guests of Southern Ocean Lookout accommodation www.southernoceanlookout.com.au

Can I tie up to the jetty in Coffin Bay?

The boat ramp jetty is only for launching and retrieving boats, you can't tie up for extended periods.

Can I hire fishing equipment?

Yes fishing rods, handlines, crab nets and eskies can be hired at an extra cost

 

Can I take the boat to other locations?

Yes this is considered on a case by case basis and may incur an increased security deposit

 

Do you have bait berley and ice for sale?

No but shops in Coffin Bay (20km away) have fuel, bait, berley and ice for sale along with a limited selection of tackle

 

Do I need to clean the boat before returning?

It is expected that the boat be returned in the same state is was hired. If the boat is returned without cleaning, an extra charge may be applied to the credit card of the hirer

 

What are the vessel limits?

All vessels are restricted to smooth and partially smooth waters. Please see map on the Hire conditions page

 

Can I use the boat for wakeboarding, kneeboarding or waterskiing?

No water sports involving towing are permitted
